What we do

Precision sidedress nitrogen

More than half of applied nitrogen is lost. We turn spatial and weather variability from a liability into an advantage.

  • Over 50% of nitrogen is lost
  • Pre-plant + sidedress
  • Risk management

The approach

Precision comes from understanding how soil and weather move together.

N-Sense’s precision sidedress nitrogen algorithm replaces the broad industry-standard MRTN methodology. Precision comes through understanding and integrating how soil variability and weather impact crop yields.

Weather is the wild card, so we model every scenario, ranging from very wet to very dry. By sidedress time you already know the spring weather, which collapses the uncertainty to just a couple of paths. A late-spring nitrate reading from our in-field sensor sharpens it further.

Average vs. precise

What an average rate costs you

Comparison of average MRTN rates against N-Sense precision sidedress rates
  • Sensor systems. Field-mobile, on-the-go soil quality sensors that identify problem soils.
  • Software. ML/AI software that maps management zones and generates nitrogen prescriptions.

Crop yields fluctuate for many reasons — weather, crop rotation, cover crop and much more. N-Sense accounts for these, leveraging ML/AI software strategically to generate 1 meter precision maps for your next crop yield and N fertilizer application.
